On the moo-ve – police investigate after cow spotted stuffed into back of car on motorway

POLICE are investigating after a cow was spotted crammed into the back of a Volkswagen Passat.

Photographs of the cow were posted to Facebook on Friday evening.

The poster said the incident happened near the town of Briton Ferry near Swansea Bay in Wales.

The photographs appear to show the car passing junction 42 eastbound on the M4.

The licence plate of the 04-reg car is clearly visible in some of the photos.

South Wales Police are investigating whether an offence had been committed, while an RSPCA spokeswoman described it as ‘unacceptable’.

“This is a completely unacceptable way to transport a large farm animal,” she said.

“This represents an animal welfare concern but also a risk to the safety of the driver and other road users.

“We would strongly urge people never to transport an animal like this.”
