Northern Ireland sex offender currently at large is spotted in Essex

POLICE have appealed for a convicted sex offender who is “unlawfully at large” to hand himself in.

James Taggart, 27, whose licence was revoked, is subject to notification requirements as he is convicted of a sexual offence.

The PSNI believe Taggart, who speaks with a Fermanagh accent, was recently seen in the Essex area of England.

Taggart also has connections to Bradford, Lancaster and Liverpool, as well as links to the Fermanagh, Belfast and Derry areas.

Taggart is described as being 5'7", of slim build (around 63.5 kg), with short, light brown hair with receding hairline, a short brown full beard and blue eyes.

Police have appealed to anyone who has seen Taggart, or who knows of his whereabouts, to contact them on 101.

The PSNI have also appealed to Taggart directly to hand himself in.
