Police name mother and teenage daughter among three dead in 'suspected murder-suicide' in Newry

POLICE have released the names of a mother and daughter who were found dead after a suspected murder-suicide in Newry, Co. Down yesterday.

The bodies of Giselle Marimom-Herrera, 37, and her 15-year-old daughter Allison were discovered at a flat in Glin Ree Court in the city at around 11am on Thursday morning.

The body of a 38-year-old man – who has not been named, but is believed to have originally been from Scotland – was also found at the property.

It is believed the trio died in a double murder-suicide.

Ms Marimon-Herrera was originally from Columbia and had lived in Northern Ireland for around four years.

Her teenage daughter Allison, a pupil at Newry High School, was born in Spain and had lived in Northern Ireland since 2017.

Family members had not heard from the deceased since the early hours of Sunday morning, police said.

The PSNI previously revealed they were "not currently seeking anyone else in connection with the deaths".

In a statement today, Detective Superintendent Jason Murphy said post-mortem examinations were under way.

"I do not yet have any preliminary or definitive causes of death, and I do not intend to speculate about that today," DS Murphy said.

"While our investigation remains at an early stage, there is no evidence at this time that anyone else was involved."

Police are appealing for anyone who spoke with Ms Marimom-Herrera or her daughter since last Friday to contact them.
