A RISING Irish star has been cast in the upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things.
Amybeth McNulty from Letterkenny in Donegal is set to play the character of Vickie in the new series of the hit Netflix science fiction show.
Vickie is described as a “cool, fast-talking band nerd” who is set to serve as a love interest for one of the main characters on the series.
Born in 2001 to an Irish father and Canadian mother, McNulty first caught the eye on the RTÉ One series Clean Break back in 2014.
More recently, she starred as Anne Shirley in the CBC/Netflix drama series Anne with an E.
Production is already underway on the new series of Stranger Things after the Covid-19 pandemic prompted a delay in filming.
The Irish actress is one of several new characters set to be introduced this season.
Others include Myles Truitt, best known for shows Queen Sugar and Black Mafia Family, who will play Patrick, a Hawkins basketball star who finds his once idyllic life spiralling out of control after an unspecified shocking event.
Regina Ting Chen, who starred in Queen of the South, and appeared in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has also been cast as high school guidance counsellor Ms. Kelly.
Grace Van Dien from Charlie Says and The Village. has also been cast as Chrissy, a high school cheerleader and popular kid harbouring a dark secret.
Stranger Things fans still have a while to wait until the latest season arrives with the delay in filming meaning the new series is expected to air in early 2022.
A teaser trailer has already debuted featuring Millie Bobby Brown’s central protagonist Eleven locked up in some sort of psychological testing centre.
