Southwark Bridge and Financial Times building evacuated after suspect package found

SOUTHWARK Bridge and the offices of the Financial Times building in London have been evacuated after reports of a suspect package being found.

Police were called to the scene and sniffer dogs and fire engines have been spotted in the area.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Police were called at 14:31hrs to reports of a suspicious package at an office in Southwark Bridge Road, SE1.

"Officers are in attendance. Road closures are in place and the building has been evacuated while emergency services deal [sic]. Enquiries continue."

Reports suggest the entire FT building has been evacuated and Southwark Bridge completely cordoned off due to the 'security alert'.

Some buses have also been diverted.

Wane Williams tweeted: "My building's on lockdown due to an incident at Financial Times building."

While Ben Brazier added: "Southwark Bridge shut. Police won’t tell us what’s happening. Any ideas?!"
