Steve Irwin's daughter shares heart-wrenching message on what would have been his 58th birthday

AUSTRALIAN CONSERVATIONIST Bindi Irwin took to social media over the weekend to share a heartfelt message to her father on what would have been his 58th birthday.

Bindi, whose father is the world famous TV personality, conservationist and animal lover Steve Irwin, shared a gorgeous photo of the father and daughter alongside a caption simply stating "I love you, Dad".

A second photo bore the message:

"Dad, today is your birthday.

"I had an extra strong cup of tea just how you liked it. I hugged Mum for you and told her how much we love her.

"Robert and I went on a hike through the mountains you cherished.

"I watched one of your documentaries with Chandler and shared stories about you. I walked through your office in the zoo and smiled at our old family photographs.

"Today and every day I miss you and love you beyond description.

"You're always with me."

Steve Irwin, who was of Irish descent on his father's side, died in September 2006 while filming for one of his much-loved documentary series.

Since his death, his wife Terri and children Bindi and Robert have kept his legacy going, running the Australia Zoo, educating people on conservation, and, of course, sharing in his love of animals.

Last year, his son Robert shared a post comparing two photographs of him and his father feeding the same crocodile 15 years apart, showing how he is quite literally following in his father's footsteps.

Terri Irwin also shared a bittersweet message of love on the day her husband would have turned 58, sharing several old photographs of their young family.

She wrote:

"Today would've been Steve's 58th birthday.

"While my heart aches missing him every day, I'm determined to celebrate what he loved the most. He was happiest spending tme [at Australia Zoo with Bindi and Robert].

"He was my best friend, best dad, and build the best zoo. I love you."
