Vin Diesel wants to set Fast & Furious 10 in Ireland

VIN DIESEL has opened the door to a Fast & Furious sequel set in Ireland.

The Hollywood hard man is keen on the idea of finishing the epic action franchise with a final entry set, partly at least, in the Emerald Isle.

Co-star Michelle Rodriguez and co-writer/director Justin Lin are also keen on the idea, which was floated during a press conference held to mark the release of a brand-new trailer for Fast & Furious 9.

The latest entry in the increasingly-outlandish street racing saga sees the action head to Georgia, Thailand, Scotland and even space.

Due for release on July 8, the film is the penultimate entry in the series with the Fast & Furious story set to be wrapped up with a two-part final entry.

During the press conference, a reporter from JOE asked whether there were any plans for the franchise to head over to Ireland as part of the final entry.

Vin was the first to throw his support behind the idea, responding: "Ireland! Dublin, I'm there! Book me a ticket!"

Rodriguez also appeared keen on the idea, joking: "They have an amazing tax break, I hear!"

Eager to elaborate on his preference for an Ireland-set final chapter, Vin explained: "Hey, y'know, yeah, Ireland. My whole career started in Ireland. We shot Saving Private Ryan in Wexford, Ireland, back in 1997.

"[It is a] great question. That is one of the magical things about this saga, is that we get to... we were talking about that earlier, as you know. We get to travel to all of these wonderful places.

“And part of the reason why Fast 10 has to be broken into two different movies is because there is so much ground to cover and there are so many places and so many locations in the world that we have to visit."

Lin, meanwhile, appeared open to the idea, though warned he would need to “get street closures” as they would likely need to “own a street for a week” in order to complete filming.

With the franchise previously filming in the busy and bustling surroundings of London, that’s not an entirely impossible prospect.
