Woman held in London over North of Ireland drug trafficking

A TEENAGER was arrested in London on Saturday (July 12) by Northern Irish police officers working to clamp down on drug trafficking.

The 19-year-old woman was arrested by detectives from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch in the Kensington area of the city on suspicion of drugs trafficking and money laundering offences.

The arrest was made after a planned search of a property in conjunction with officers from the Metropolitan Police.

Approximately £48,000 was seized.

The woman is currently in custody at a police station in Belfast.

This is the third arrest as part of a PSNI operation against drug importation in which approximately £350,000 of cannabis was seized following searches at properties in Belfast, Larne and Co. Down on July 2 and 3.

Two women, aged 24 and 45, have been charged by police in relation to this operation and appeared at Laganside Magistrates Court on Friday, July 4.
