Betting Tips: Sir Ivan can make an impact at Wincanton on Thursday

WEDNESDAY

KEMPTON PARK

5.45        32 ON THE APP STORE HANDICAP (DIV 1) – 1 M 2 F

Ever Yours seems to have improved for a recent switch of yards and got off the mark on what was only his second run for Noel Quinlan at this track a few weeks ago. He had some fair form in Ireland when trained by John Joseph Murphy and the style of that victory last time out suggested that another slight step up in trip would be equally beneficial. Pat Cosgrave looks set to retain the ride on the four year old and if progressing again he should be capable of going close.

7.15        10 FREE BET AT 32REDSPORT.COM MAIDEN AUCTION STAKES – 1 MILE

Mystical Spirit found only the well supported Lear’s Rock too strong when making his racecourse debut at Lingfield last month. The front two in that race pulled some five lengths clear of the remainder of their field suggesting that it would be quite useful form to follow. Martyn Meade has made an exhilarating start to his training career particularly amongst the juvenile ranks. He and Fergus Sweeney proved a decent combination last year and it would be of little surprise to see this three year old progress again.

THURSDAY

WINCANTON

1.25        BATHWICK TYRES YEOVIL NOVICES’ HURDLE – 2 M 4 F

Sir Ivan shed his maiden status at the fifth time of asking last month and that will have worked wonders for his confidence. He found significant improvement having been upped in trip at Exeter and there should be a lot more to come over this slightly longer distance this afternoon. Noel Fehily is once again set to ride and he should know this five year old well having partnered him in all, but one previous career start. This locally trained runner is still only a five year old and given the current good form of the Harry Fry team he has to be high on any shortlist.

FRIDAY

SANDOWN

3.25        GRAND MILITARY GOLD CUP – 3 MILES 110YDS

Howlongisafoot is a lightly raced six year trained by Paul Nicholls at Ditcheat. He has run well at this course in the past and seemed to improve for a marked step up in trip last time out. He likes to race prominently and actually made all of his own running when landing the spoils at Taunton back in December. The yard seems to target some of their lesser lights at these races his entry has to be respected. Jody Sole is a talented amateur and he is able to claim a useful three pounds from his mount.
