The draws for the First Round of the Sports Direct Men's & Women's FAI Cup competitions took place today at the FAI National Training Centre

In the Men's FAI Cup, Derry City, the reigning champions, will face Athlone Town, while the formidable Shamrock Rovers, with 25 cup victories, are set to clash with Dundalk, who have claimed the title 12 times.

A Dublin derby awaits as Bohemians will host Shelbourne. Additionally, 12 non-league teams, including FAI Intermediate Cup winners Rockmount, will compete, with Rockmount set to challenge Gorey Rangers.

The First Round matches are scheduled to be held during the week ending Sunday, July 23, as all 32 teams vie for a spot in the Final, which will take place at Aviva Stadium on Sunday, November 12.

In the Women's FAI Cup, defending champions Shelbourne received a bye and will commence their title defense in the Quarter-Finals.

An enticing First Round encounter features two-time winners Peamount United taking on Treaty United. Shamrock Rovers, six-time Cup winners returning to the competition after an absence since 2013, will face the challenge of Killester Donnycarney.

The Women's FAI Cup matches are scheduled to be played during the week ending Sunday, August 27, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Final on Sunday, November 5.

Derek Coughlan, renowned for scoring the game-winning goal for Cork City in the 1998 Men's FAI Cup Final, along with FAI Head of Women and Girls' Football Eileen Gleeson and FAI President Gerry McAnaney, presided over the draws.
