IRISH striker Evan Ferguson has begun his Roma career in blistering fashion with five goals in his first two games for the club.
The 20-year-old's last goal at club level came in October 2024 when he scored for Brighton in a 2-2 draw with Wolves in the Premier League.
However, he scored a 16-minute hat-trick on his debut in a 9-0 defeat of UniPomezia on his debut on Thursday.
After putting his new side 3-0 up after 24 minutes, the on-loan striker added his fourth and Roma's fifth in the 62nd minute, shortly before being substituted.
It may have been against a side newly-promoted to Italy's fourth tier but the goals will no doubt boost Ferguson's confidence after a frustrating 18 months in which he scored only one club goal.
Ferguson continued his scoring exploits on Saturday when he scored the only goal of the game in Roma's friendly win at German second-tier side Kaiserslautern.
The Irishman pounced on a loose ball in the 16th minute before firing home to seal the win and make it five goals in two outings for the Giallorossi.
Roma face friendlies against Cannes and Lens before heading to England for matches against Aston Villa and Everton ahead of their Serie A opener at home to Bologna on August 23.
Ferguson joined the Italian side this week on loan from Brighton, with the Italian club having the option to make the deal permanent.
The Irishman burst onto the scene in the 2022/23 season when he scored 10 goals in 25 matches for the Seagulls.
He began the following campaign strongly, scoring six goals in the first 12 league games but injuries and a dip in form hampered the second half of his season.
Last term saw him make 15 appearances for Brighton before spending the second half of the campaign at West Ham, where he featured just eight times.
