John Lacey voted in as Chairperson of London GAA for 2016

JOHN Lacey has been elected as the new Chairperson of the London GAA County Board following Sunday’s Annual Convention at the Irish TV Grounds in London.

Almost 20 years after his first stint at the helm, the Laois native replaces Noel O’Sullivan as the Kerryman’s four-year reign was brought to an end via a vote by around 96 club delegates.

“It’s a great honour to come back here after 20 years, near enough to the day, and be re-elected as Chairman of the county,” said Mr Lacey.

“It doesn’t give me a lot of pleasure to oust Noel – he’s done a good job in a lot of cases, but in other cases I would say we’re not happy with how things have been going.

“All I can say is that I will do my very best for the coming year. It’s going to be a short term, that I can assure you, I don’t intend to stay around too long. But the clubs have put me here, so I hope I get the support of every club.”
