Shefflin set to retire from inter-county hurling

Henry Shefflin is expected to announce his retirement from inter-county hurling on Wednesday afternoon.

The Kilkenny legend, who has won 10 All Ireland senior medals with the Cats, has called a press conference for 12pm at the Set Theatre in Langton’s.

Following Ballyhale Shamrocks All Ireland club final success over Kilmallock on St Patrick’s Day Shefflin said a decision on his Kilkenny future would be made ‘within the next week.’

The only player to win 10 All Ireland medals Shefflin has also accumulated 13 Leinster Senior Championships, six Allianz Leagues, three All Ireland clubs, 11 All Stars, and was named Hurler of the Year on three occasions.
