Stephen Kenny names Ireland squad for upcoming friendlies

COME ON you boys in green!

Stephen Kenny has named his Ireland squad for upcoming friendlies against Andorra and Hungary.

It is a strong squad, that mixes experience with youth, with a wide range of players selected.

Ireland fans will be excited to get a look at a young forward line, with Idah, Ogbene and Parrott all hopefully in line to get some valuable minutes.

Four players were called up to the senior squad for the first time - Andrew Omobamidele, Jamie McGrath, Daniel Mondroiu and Chiedozie Ogbene.

Jamie McGrath in particular is one who absolutely needed to be called up to the squad, after having an extraordinary season with St. Mirren. He bagged 17 goals for the Scottish club, and is being watched by a number of big teams.

Omobamidele has had an incredible few months, with the young Kildare lad going from warming the bench at Norwich, to playing a crucial part in getting promoted back to the Premier League, so we can see why he was called up.

Senior player Jeff Hendrick is unlucky to miss out, while John Egan returns after missing the World Cup qualifiers through injury.

While the friendlies may not be of the most importance, Kenny will feel under extreme pressure to get his first win as Ireland boss, and this squad could be the one to finally do it.

COYBIG!
