Andrew Scott cast in BBC Cold War thriller, Legacy

BAFTA award-winner Andrew Scott has been cast in Legacy, a one-off espionage film from the BBC.

The Dublin-born actor will play a foreign diplomat in the London-set 1970s drama, which will begin filming later this year.

Legacy follows the story of British spy Charles (Cox) has barely begun his training in Britain's secret intelligence service, MI6, when his university association with a Soviet diplomat lands him on a case.

The diplomat, Viktor Koslov (Scott), has been working in London and his behaviour suggests he could be turned.

Charles's bosses hope to exploit Viktor for their own purposes. But when Charles makes contact, Viktor reveals certain information that he would rather not believe.

Other cast in the 90-minute film include Charlie Cox (Stardust), Romola Garai (The Hour) and Simon Russell Beale (The Hollow Crown).

The BBC Two thriller will be directed by BAFTA winner Pete Travis (Omagh), and will be Slim Film + Television’s début production.

The one-off film was written by Paula Milne (The Politician’s Husband), who adapted the novel of the same name by Alan Judd.
