Downton Abbey star to reveal surprising Irish roots on The Late Late Show

DOWNTON Abbey Star Hugh Bonneville will reveal his 'surprising Irish roots' on tonight's Late Late Show.

The award-winning actor will sit on the famed couch to tell host Ryan Tubridy about his new documentary Countdown to Calvary.

Known worldwide for his role as Robert Crawley, the Earl of Grantham, his new documentary gives an insight into the final days of Jesus' life.

He will also talk about his move from studying theology to acting.

In 2016, while appearing on BBC 4's Desert Island Discs, Bonneville revelaed how he suspected his mother of being a spy for M16.

Though when he asked her, she denied working for the security service.

He also spoke about how his parents met when his mother was a nurse and his father was working as a doctor.

The family later lived in Singapore, where his mother worked for the Foreign Office, before returning to London.

If that's anything to go by tonight's Irish revelation could be a big one.

The Late Late Show airs on RTE One tonight at 9.35pm.
