Ed Sheeran performs with children's choir on Late Late Toy Show

ED SHEERAN surprised viewers as he joined children on the Late Late Toy Show for a rendition of his song Leave You Life.

The star performed alongside the Toy Show Choir, made up of children who were supported by last year's Toy Show fundraising appeal.

This year's appeal has already surpassed the €5million mark and is expected to rise even further thanks to banking app Revolut.

Sheeran, who previously appeared on the Irish Christmas institution in 2014, entered the stage as the children finished the opening verse of the song Leave Your Life from his new album =.

Following a duet with youngster Hayley, Sheeran thanked his co-stars before springing a surprise on them.

"I haven’t actually said to the kids but I'm touring the whole island, so you and all your family are welcome to any tickets you want, so just come to any show you want to,” Sheeran revealed to the children.

The star is playing two shows apiece in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Belfast in 2022.

Generous pledge

The RTE Toy Show Appeal, in partnership with The Community Foundation for Ireland, helped over 600,000 children and family members across Ireland last year.

This year's appeal looks let to break the €6million mark after a pledge by the co-founder of banking app Revolut.

The company was supporting this year's Toy Show Appeal but technical difficulties caused by Black Friday affected some donations via the app.

As a result, Revolut co-founder Vlad Yatsenko donated €100,000 to the appeal.

He has also pledged to match any further donations made via the app until midnight tonight, up to €1m.

Donations can still be made at www.rte.ie/toyshowappeal or via the 'donations' tab on the Revolut app.
