AN 11-year-old boy who managed to spell 'Taoiseach' in the final stages of the National Spelling Bee competition in the United States has become this year's joint winner.
"Is that an Irish word for Prime Minister?" asked, Nihar Janga, from Austin, Texas before spelling out the word correctly.
Janga was named co-champion with Jairam Hathwar, aged 13, after the pair battled for 25 rounds in the final on live TV.
Each youngster received a $40,000 (£27,343) prize.
The finalists were whittled down from more than 280 spelling whizzes after two days of written and oral tests.
