Ripper Street returns to BBC One for third series

RIPPER Street’s third series is set for a return to its former home on BBC One later this month.

The most recent instalment of the period crime drama - which is filmed in Dublin - was aired on Amazon Prime Instant Video, but the series will also be broadcast on television this summer.

Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg reprised their roles as investigators in the Whitechapel H Division from the BBC series, following the deal struck between the Irish Film Board and Element Pictures last year.

Ripper Street was axed by the BBC in December 2013, but was saved by Amazon Prime Instant Video in early 2014.

The eight-part third series will now be shown on BBC One from July 31 at 9pm on Fridays.

The fourth series is currently being filmed and a fifth has been announced.
