Irish bar makes cocktail tribute to Irish footballer Roy Keane

AN IRISH pub has made a cocktail tribute to Irish footballer Roy Keane.

The Cask bar have named the drink after Keane's most famous quote, Cork First Ireland Second, as a special drink only available until the end of April.

According to the MacCurtain Street bar in Cork they don't just make cocktail but "tell stories, Cork stories."

"This drink won't be for everyone," the drink description says.

"A prickly combination of extreme complexity, it's got a strong character, a killer finish and shows no mercy in its relentless persuit of perfection.

"The tough streets of Mayfield are at its heart!" it says, a nod to Keane's home place.

The drink includes Cotton Ball Brewing Company Indian Summer, shaken with a whole passion fruit, and banana liqueur, with Tanqueray gin and Blackwater Distillery juniper cask gin.

However, in order to soften out the flavour, they add local West Cork vanilla ice cream and because "it's not quite sharp tongued enough" they also add Aperol and a dash of Guelder Rose Tincture.

"Far from a flower this a sour little berry with a viscous kick," it finishes.
