THE Manchester Irish Festival attracted over 2,000 people to its opening weekend of St Patrick’s celebrations around the city on Friday, March 6 until Sunday, March 101.

A number of events at the Mayo Tourism weekend, which included plays and concerts by the Atlantic Rhythm Production Company, were sold out ensuring a successful start for the Festival.

Other events around Manchester included a special Irish Cask Ale Festival, a performance by Dublin band Tupelo and a programme of special events at the Chorlton Irish Club.

Over 100,000 visitors are expected to 'go green' and greet the annual St Patrick’s Day parade in the city centre on Sunday, March 17.  The parade is now the biggest of its kind in the UK.
