17-year-old boy released from custody over Waterford murder

A BOY who was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man in Dunmore East, Co Waterford has been released from custody.

25-year-old Jack Power died in the early hours of Thursday morning after he was discovered with a fatal stab wound to the chest in a housing estate in the Shanakiel area of Dunmore East.

He was taken to University Hospital Waterford where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A murder investigation was launched on Thursday, following a post-mortem examination.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested and questioned by Gardai.

He was released from Waterford Garda Station at 1am this morning.

A file will be prepared for the DPP.
