Arrest over 2017 murder that shocked quiet rural Irish town

A MAN has been arrested over the murder of Michal Kurek in Ireland in August 2017.

The body of Mr Kurak, 33, was found by the side of a road in Grange, Ballyboughal, Co. Dublin on August 4.

He died after sustaining multiple stab wounds.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in Meath today.

He is being detained at Balbriggan Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Mr Kurek’s murder rocked the local area, with Superintendent Noel Carolan describing it at the time as “otherwise a generally very quiet, peaceful rural community”.

Originally from the town of Dziewin in southern Poland, Mr Kurek had become homeless shortly before his death and was known to frequent Blanchardstown, Ongar and Dublin City Centre.
