Body found in search for 67-year-old woman missing from Cork

A BODY has been found in the search for missing mother-of-five Frankie Devlin.

In a terribly sad ending to the desperate four-day search for the 67-year-old woman, Gardaí have confirmed that a body was found today during the search in the East Cork area.

They have thanked the public for their assistance over the past few days but confirmed that no further assistance is needed.

Ms Devlin was last seen outside the Garryvoe Hotel in East Cork on Saturday night, October 5th, at about 10.45pm, where she had been attending a school reunion.

The discovery comes after Gardaí renewed an appeal for information today, October 9th, and said they were particularly focused on finding dash-cam footage from anyone who was driving through the area at the time of her disappearance.

The family of Ms Devlin had previously said they were concerned for her safety, and that the missing woman could have been in a distressed, disoriented or confused state.

A Garda spokesman confirmed that the body is indeed that of Ms Frankie Devlin, and said:

"The body of Frankie Devlin, 67 years, missing from the Garryvoe area since Saturday 5th October 2019, has been recovered today Wednesday 9th October 2019."

We offer our most sincere condolences to her family.
