Body of newborn baby found in car boot after mum seeks treatment at Irish hospital

AN investigation has concluded after a newborn baby was found dead inside a car in Ireland.

It is understood that the infant died following a tragic stillbirth in Birr, Co. Offaly on March 29.

The tot's body was discovered a few days later when the mother visited hospital.

According to the Irish Times, the discovery was made in the boot of the woman's car and it is believed she had suffered a stillbirth in the vehicle itself.

A post-mortem examination carried out at Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore earlier this month concluded that the baby died of natural causes.

Gardaí have confirmed that the mother delivered a stillborn baby and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the infant's tragic death.

They are treating the case as a tragedy and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
