Body of woman discovered in Kerry home as gardaí open investigation

GARDAÍ have opened an investigation following the discovery of a woman's body at a house in Co. Kerry on Monday.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was found in her home in the town of Lixnaw, around 18km north of Tralee.

Once the alarm was raised, paramedics raced to the house, but the woman was pronounced dead on arrival.

It's understood that she had been dead for hours.

The body has been removed to University Hospital Kerry, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out, while authorities have sealed off the house for a technical examination.

A parked car opposite the house has also been forensically examined.

Gardaí say the results of the tests will determine the remainder of their investigation.
