POLICE have released a CCTV image of a woman who paid for food with a fake £20 note in a McDonald’s restaurant in the Midlands.

Northamptonshire Police want to speak to the woman pictured in connection with the incident which took place in Daventry, Northamptonshire last month.

The attempted fraud occurred in the early evening between 5.20pm and 5.40pm on Friday, January 20 and police are keen to talk to anyone who may recognise the woman.

She spoke with an Irish accent and is described as white, pale, with long dark hair and was wearing a black coat at the time.

The woman is believed to be aged in her late 30s and was about 5ft 8in in height with a medium build.

Police say CCTV footage shows the woman placing an order at the fast food restaurant for which she attempts to pay using a counterfeit English £20 note.

But she is challenged by staff and quickly leaves the restaurant.
