First of the longer Luas trams to be unrolled this week

SEVEN new Luas trams will be put into service this year.

New 55m trams will be deployed on the green line of the Luas service in Dublin's city centre this week.

The arrival of the new trams will hopefully reduce overcrowding issues on the line, which have left commuters frustrated in making it to work in time with the morning rush hour.

According to The Irish Times,  the extra trams have costed Luas operator Transdev 36 million euro and all seven trams will be put into use by June of this year.

The first tram is expected to be in service this week, with 4 more to be unrolled in April and the remaining trams be put into place before June.
