Home and Away actor Ben Unwin dies aged 41

POPULAR ACTOR Ben Unwin, who starred in Home and Away for seven years, has died.

Mr Unwin, who played troubled character Jesse McGregor on the Australian soap, died at home under conditions which police say are not being treated as suspicious.

His exact cause of death is not yet known.

Mr Unwin starred in Home and Away between the years 1996 to 2000, and made a return from 2002 to 2005, before eventually leaving the show to pursue a career as a solicitor.

Condolences are flooding in from Mr Unwin’s friends and colleagues, including those who had starred alongside him in the soap.

Mr Unwin’s former co-star Kimberly Cooper, who played love interest Gypsy Smith alongside the tragic actor, paid tribute to him in an emotional Instagram post.

She said:

“My first TV week cover was with you.

We had years of laughter, be it giggles on set trying to get through scenes as lovers or doubled over belly laughs at the pubs after work.

I will be sad for now, but I promise to tell stories of great joy about our times together.

You will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Love you onion.”

The Australian actor was just one day away from his 42nd birthday.
