Investigation launched after teenager found dead at youth education centre

GARDAI have launched an investigation into the death of a teenager at a youth education centre in Crumlin.

The 17-year-old was discovered in an unresponsive state on Monday at the Crumlin Youthreach Centre.

He was rushed to St James Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Described as “A Second Chance at Education” the centre provides education, training and work experience for young people.

The service is directed towards teens who left school before completing their Leaving Certification.

It is funded by the Department of Education and Skills.

Officials from the centre could not be reached for comment at the time of writing.
