Investigation under way following discovery of man’s body at Dublin house

GARDAI ARE investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man’s body at a property in Dublin last night.

The man, who was in his 60s, was found in his home on St Michael’s Road in Drumcondra.

Officers were first called to the scene after responding to a report of several men who were seen attempting to break into the house at around 11pm this past Saturday, August 8.

Upon arrival, gardai found no other people present.

However, a subsequent search of the property uncovered the body of the elderly male.

Forensic examinations of the scene and body are now under way.

A State Pathologist has conducted a preliminary examination of the scene.

Despite the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body, it’s not clear whether there is a connection between the break-in and the death.

According to neighbours, the victim is said to be from Dublin and have lived in the area for some time.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 6668602, or alternatively via the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Alternatively, anyone wishing to come forward can also get in touch via any local garda station.
