AN IRISH social media influencer was left in tears after opening her Leaving Cert results live on Instagram.
19-year-old beauty blogger Lucy Fitz shared her first reaction to the exam results with her 65,000 followers on Instagram.
Filmed opening the fateful envelope containing her results with her family close by, the situation took a turn for the worse when she discovered she had failed chemistry.
The news left Lucy in tears as she began to realise her results were below what she had hoped to get, despite months of hard work.
A scenario faced by countless young people both in Ireland and the world over, Lucy was nevertheless able to compose herself enough to reflect on the results.
Still emotional, she admitted she had been left saddened by the outcome though she was still trying to take some positives from the situation.
“I am just a bit disappointed that I spent so much time and effort trying to study for the last few weeks. I did Maths grinds for two years, every week,” she said.
“I ended up getting 294, it’s certainly not the best, but it could be worse, I could have failed Maths.”
Lucy insisted that “everything works out for a reason” and that while she was upset about “not getting her course” she is enjoying her fledging online career
“Although I’m disappointed and feel defeated, this has given me even more determination to achieve what I want in life,” she wrote on Instagram.
