Football coach Michael ‘Kit’ Carson charged with abusing 11 boys

A FOOTBALL coach has been charged with indecently assaulting 11 boys.

Michael ‘Kit’ Carson of Riverside, Cambridge, is accused of 11 counts of indecent assault and one of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, all involving boys under 16.

The 74-year-old, whose real name is Michael Sean Carson, was charged in connection with a football abuse probe in Cambridgeshire.

The BBC reports that the alleged offences happened between 1978 and 2009.

Carson, who has been released on conditional bail, was originally arrested in January 2017.

He is due to appear at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on April 17.

Carson worked as a youth manager at Norwich City from 1983 until 1993, when he moved to Peterborough United to work as academy director.

He spent eight years at Peterborough before moving to Cambridge in 2001 to work as head of talent development, a role he held until 2006.

More recently he has worked as an independent football consultant and as a scout in Finland.
