Irish man found dead in Portugal hotel swimming pool

AN IRISH man has died in Portugal, the Department of Foreign Affairs in Ireland has confirmed.

The body of the Irish national was found in a swimming pool at the Pine Sun Park resort in Praia da Falésia at around 5.04am on Monday morning, Portuguese media reports.

The hotel is located in the popular holiday town of Albufeira.

It was reported that the man was pulled out of the water by a friend and resort security.

Emergency services arrived shortly after and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is due to take place.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it is offering consular assistance to the man’s family.
