Irish troops arrive home after eight months on peace-keeping duties in Lebanon

THE 115th Infantry Battalion, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) returned home to Dublin following an eight-month deployment on peace-keeping duties.

The tour by the 170 serving soldiers of the Irish Defence Forces was extended due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.

The personnel were transported to McKee Barracks for a medical screening before travelling to their homes across Ireland.

Personnel will undergo a 14-day isolation period before returning to duties.

The company is drawn from 24 counties on both sides of the border.
