‘Is this a president worth dying for?’ - Sinead O’Connor launches stinging attack on Donald Trump

SINEAD O’CONNOR has launched a savage take down of Donald Trump ahead of the US election.

The 53-year-old Irish singer, who identifies as Shuhada Sadaqat since converting to Islam in October 2018, took to the social media platform to slam the US President in a searing tweet.

An outspoken opponent of Trump, O’Connor’s tirade against the Leader of the Free World appeared to centre on reports he is opposed to the use of postal votes in America’s upcoming Presidential elections.

According to Trump, postal ballots, or mail-in ballots as they are known in the US would lead to "the most corrupt election" in US history.

He has even suggested delaying the election to stop postal ballots leading to "inaccurate and fraudulent" results.

It’s a suggestion that drew an angry response from O’Connor, who put forward a theory as to why Trump is so opposed to the idea of postal votes.

“He wants the postal vote axed because it would be too accurate,” the Nothing Compares 2 U singer tweeted.

“But he also wants folks too afraid to go out to vote.

“Ergo he wants only his supporters to go out and vote and he doesn't care if they die doing so.

“Is this a president worth dying for?”

The comments drew a supportive response from many of her Irish-American followers on Twitter, who appear worried about what awaits them in the coming weeks.

“I’m losing sleep some nights, wondering what the next 3 months will bring,” one wrote.

“Grateful for the Irish passport.”

Another said: “My sister is 30 years resident in the states and refuses to give up her Irish passport and take American citizenship, now we understand why.”

Despite her damning assessment of Trump, O’Connor was previously similarly scathing of his opponent, Joe Biden.

Speaking in an interview with The Sun back in March, she backed Trump to win the next election – albeit with her prediction coming prior to the current Covid-19 pandemic.

“Obviously, Trump is the devil incarnate but he will be re-elected because there isn’t a candidate with the same amount of testosterone as Trump,” she said.

“Joe Biden simply doesn’t have it and that’s what people want — testosterone.”
