‘I’ve been dreaming of this since I was four’: London picks its new Rose for Tralee

SPECIALIST physiotherapist Caoimhe Gallagher has been selected as the 2017 London Rose and will represent the city at the Rose of Tralee festival in August.

Caoimhe, 23, who was representing the Danny Sullivan Group, was one of 16 contestants who took part on the London Rose selection evening which took place at the Clayton Crown hotel in Cricklewood.

She is a specialist physiotherapist at St George's hospital and Wimbledon RFC and is a passionate musician, dancer and charity worker.

Donegal born and Kerry raised Caoimhe told The Irish Post: “I’ve literally been dreaming of this moment since I was four years old.

“It means even more because I was here last year and was disappointed not to win.

“I can only thank my family and friends who have sponsored me. I would never have been here without them.”

Outgoing 2016 London rose Emma Murphy-O’Connor presented Caoimhe her sash after London Rose Centre Chairman Noel O’Sullivan announced her as the winner.

The Rose of Tralee International Festival 2017 kicks off on August 16 and is the 58th year of the world-renowned contest.
