Man in his 80s dies after car collides with tree in Co Tipperary

AN ELDERLY man has died after the car he was driving collided with a tree in Co. Tipperary.

The fatal accident happened around 2.30pm on Sunday near Loughlin's Bridge in the Clogheen area of the county.

Authorities were quickly called out and treated the driver, believed to be the only person in the car, at the scene.

Sadly, he was later pronounced dead, and his body was removed and transported to Waterford University Hospital where post-mortem examination is due to take place.

The road was initially closed as a garda forensics team examined the scene, but it has since been reopened.

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward with information.

They've asked any road users who were travelling near Loughlin's Bridge between 2.30pm and 2.45pm who may have dash-cam footage to make it available.
