Man pleads guilty to violence charge after attack on Irish Liverpool fan Sean Cox

A MAN has admitted to violent disorder before Liverpool’s Champions League game with Roma in April, during which an Irishman was seriously injured.

Daniele Sciusco, 29, pleaded guilty to the charge at Liverpool Crown Court today and has been remanded in custody until sentencing.

Co-accused Filippo Lombardi, 21, pleaded not guilty to the same charge, as well as to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

He has been remanded in custody until his trial in October.

Irishman Sean Cox, 53, from Dunboyne, Co. Meath, remains in a critical condition in a Liverpool hospital after being attacked outside Anfield last month.

The father-of-three had been in the city for the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League tie against Roma when he was attacked shortly before kick-off outside a pub near the stadium.

Since the April 24 incident, the club have paid numerous tributes to Mr Cox, including displaying a banner bearing his name after the return leg in Rome.
