Police launch manhunt after girl, 12, repeatedly sexually assaulted in Primark

POLICE have released an image of a man wanted after a young girl was repeatedly sexually assaulted at a Primark store.

The 12-year-old victim was shopping with a family member in Bury, Greater Manchester when she was groped in the town-centre clothing shop, GMP said.

The offender followed the girl around the store and later tried to lift up her skirt while holding what appeared to be a mobile phone, the force added.

The girl then ran to a member of her family elsewhere in the shop and told them what had happened.

The man reappeared and attempted to approach the victim again, but was challenged by the family member and "became very agitated and quickly made off through the main entrance", police said.

Detectives have now released a CCTV image of the suspect walking away following the incident at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, September 11.

Constable Stephen Rain, of GMP’s Bury division, said: "This was a blatant and repeated sexual assault of a young girl when she was simply out shopping with family.

"We are determined to find who has committed this offence.

"We would ask anyone who recognises the man in this picture, or has any information, to get in touch immediately."

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 0161 856 8181, or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
