Prisoner on the run taunts police with social media pictures

A PRISONER who was mistakenly released from prison has taken to social media to taunt the London Metropolitan Police.

Ryan Byrne, 34, was jailed for his involvement in a raid on a West London Boots branch in 2007. Since his accidental release from Wandsworth Prison, police in Hammersmith and Fulham have been searching for him.

However, the convicted felon has been posing for pictures which have been posted on social media, taunting the police.

In pictures released by The Sun, Byrne is seeing posing with a police van as well as having a pint in a London pub.

Byrne was arrested in 2007 as part of a gang of four that used a two foot machete to raid the Ruislip Boots branch. His brother Darren was also involved.

Byrne was sentenced to nine years in prison for his involvement in the incident.

He is described as a white man, 5ft 11ins tall and of medium build. He has a bald head and may have a light, stubbly beard.

He is believed to have been in the Wardour Street area of Westminster on Saturday, July 18, and is also thought to have travelled to the north-west of London since his release.

Anyone who has seen Ryan Byrne or has any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Richard Jones at Hammersmith Police Station via 101.
