£100,000 digger stolen in Britain recovered during search of yard in Northern Ireland

DETECTIVES in Northern Ireland have recovered a £100,000 digger from a site in Armagh which was stolen from England last week.

In a post on their Facebook page, PSNI Armagh announced that a 'Detective H' had made the discovery while carrying out a search warrant on a yard in the south of the county.

"Detective H has a sore hand. She's been high fiving all round her for the last couple of hours and with understandable reason," they said.

"Earlier today, Detective H, with colleagues from South Area Reactive and Organised Crime, led the Newry DST to a yard in the Armagh area under a warrant searching for stolen machinery.

"This digger worth £100,000 was recovered at the scene. We believe it was stolen in England last week. One male has been arrested."

The PSNI added that agricultural and plant theft "ruins livelihoods."

"Agricultural plant theft ruins livelihoods and ultimately hurts us all.

"We're committed to hitting back, hunting suspects down, and retrieving stolen machinery where at all possible. Here's proof of that," they added.
