Storm Emma forces namesake bride to abandon Irish wedding

AN Irish bride called Emma has been forced to abandon her wedding because of the approaching Storm Emma.

Emma O’Kane was due to marry partner Chris Butler at Darver Castle in Dundalk, Co. Louth after two years of planning.

However Belfast Live reports that the couple, from Lurgan in Co. Armagh, were forced to call off the nuptials at the last minute.

Emma was having her bridal make-up done when the worsening weather forced her to make the heart-breaking decision.

The venue were happy to accommodate the couple if they wished to proceed, but advised against it.

With 127 guests expected, the couple didn’t want to risk their safety travelling to the reception on the treacherous roads.

Emma told Belfast Live: “It was devastating, but when I took a step back I realised the right decision would be to postpone.”

The couple have rebooked their wedding for March 29.

Weather-permitting, they hope to fly out to Cuba for their honeymoon this weekend.
