Teenage driver killed in traffic collision in Ulster

A TEENAGER has passed away following a road collision.

The driver was on the Dublin road out of Cavan when he collided with another driver.

It's believed the driver was on the Dublin Road in the area of Kingscourt in the count before he crashed at 1.55am this morning.

According to The Journal, the young driver passed away upon impact of the collision.

The other driver, a man aged 19, was left uninjured by the incident.

The body of the deceased is to be moved to Cavan General Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed the tragedy: "The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by the Garda forensic collision investigators, who are at the scene. Local diversions are in place...

"Gardaí are appealing to any persons or motorists who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at Bailieboro Garda Station on 042 – 9694570, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
