Tragedy as woman in her late 50s dies after colliding with van in rural Ireland

A 59-YEAR-OLD woman has tragically died following a crash on a rural road in Co. Louth.

The woman was driving her car when it collided with a small van on the Drogheda to Slane Road at the junction of King William's Glen shortly before 9am this morning.

She was seriously injured in the incident and rushed by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the van was uninjured.
