Tributes paid to Cork woman fatally wounded in London

TRIBUTES have been paid to a Co. Cork woman who was killed near Arsenal Football Club in north London last weekend.

Leeann Foley died in Holloway on Saturday, November 1 after suffering fatal gunshot wounds.

The following day Richard Conroy, of Loraine Road in Holloway, was charged with her murder.

The 38-year-old is believed to have known Ms Foley and is thought to also hail from Ireland.

Ms Foley, 32, who was working as an accountant, grew up in London and attended Highbury Fields School.

She was found badly injured at an address in Loraine Road, close to the Arsenal Emirates Stadium football ground, at around 9.30am on November 1.

“She was a popular, straightforward Irish girl, an amazing person who touched so many people’s lives and changed my life when I became friends with her,” Adele Butcher said this week.

“She was a bubbly, kind, caring person. She would do anything for anyone,” Nicola O’Rourke added.

Ms Foley was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of police officers who administered first aid until the arrival of an ambulance.

A post mortem examination later gave the cause of her death as gunshot wounds.

Conroy appeared at The Old Bailey charged with murder on Wednesday, November 5.
