TV host Ant McPartlin charged with drink driving

TELEVISION presenter Ant McPartlin has been charged with drink-driving following his arrest on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police have said.

McPartlin had initially been released after questioning following the Sunday afternoon incident.

However it has now been confirmed that the Saturday Night Takeaway presenter has been charged.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “A man has been charged following a road traffic collision in Lower Richmond Road, SW14 that occurred on Sunday, 18 March.

"Anthony McPartlin, 42 (18.11.75) of Chiswick has been charged by postal requisition on Wednesday, 21 March with drink-driving.

"He will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on 4 April."

The news comes after co-host Declan Donnelly revealed earlier today he would present the remaining two episodes of the series alone.

The incident, which occurred in Richmond on Sunday at about 4pm, is believed to have involved the presenter’s car and two other vehicles.

A three-year-old girl in one of the other cars was taken to hospital as a precaution.
