Two Irish men arrested following serious assault on 66-year-old pensioner in Australia

A 66-YEAR-OLD man is fighting for his life following a serious assault involving two Irish men in Australia.

According to a report from Yahoo Australia, 24-year-old Christopher McLaughlin and 21-year-old Nathan Kelly from Donegal are in custody.

Australian police have charged the pair with reckless grievous bodily harm in company and affray.

The Irish pair are now set to appear at Burwood Local Court on Wednesday, January 1st.

The charges come after the 66-year-old victim was found injured on the side of a road in the the Sydney suburb of Summer Hill in New South Wales last Saturday, December 29th.

Though paramedics were able to administer aid at the scene, the man was later taken to the nearby Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for further treatment.

The extent of the injuries suffered by the man, who has not been named publicly, have not been publicised but he said to be in critical condition and reportedly fighting for his life.
