The weather this weekend looks to be looking up

There's not much point making weekend plans in Ireland before checking the forecast.

The weather the last few days has been grey, wet and humid but it looks like conditions are due to improve.

Saturday is to start off as rather cloudy overall but is set to brighten up with good sunshine developing in many parts by the afternoon.

In the areas of Ulster and west Connacht, there's set to be mostly cloudy conditions and some drizzle is likely later in the day.

Top temperatures will reach between 17 and 23 degrees, warmest across Munster and south Leinster.

Sunday will stay close and humid in light to moderate southwest breezes.

Generally, it's set to be rather cloudy and misty with scattered patches of drizzle and fog about.

Temperatures will be between 18 and 20 degrees, making it a warm finish to the weekend.
