Scientists from Canada have been busy developing something that could change the face of social drinking as we know it: the world's first cannabis beer.
Now, the concept of a cannabis beer isn't anything particularly new; there have been plenty produced in the past and more are likely to come in the future.
But this is different than the ones that have come before it. Why? Because this one gets you high.
Most cannabis beers tend to be brewed from barley and infused with cannabis oil.
However, The Guardian is reporting that a laboratory in Ontario has developed a new tipple brewed specifically from the plant and boasting a level of marijuana that's the equivalent of one single unit of alcohol.
A lot of blood, sweat, and tears have gone into the new beer though as Dooma Wendschuh of Province Brands, the Toronto firm behind the beer, revealed to the Guardian, confirming that some initial attempts tasted a bit like "rotten broccoli". Yum.
Thankfully, a chemist helped the firm get back on track with a tasty brew that definitely hits the spot i.e. gets you high.
"The beer hits you very quickly, which is not common for a marijuana edible," Wendschuh says.
There's just one small drawback though - the beer is both alcohol and gluten-free.
It packs a decent punch for weed smokers though with around 6.5mg of THC per pint. It's also safer and better for you than most standard beers.
Though Wendschuh is keen to stress that, like most of the finer things in life, it should be enjoyed in moderation.
"Marijuana is not good for you and our beers are not good for you," he said.
"You should not drink them five times a day, you should not drink them first thing when you wake up in the morning. We're not saying that."
The beer is behind developed ahead of a change in the laws that could see marijuana legalised in Canada from October onwards in a move that could open up a million-dollar industry in the region.
It's also the latest innovation in the world of beer, coming hot on the heels of a special brew designed for drinking in the shower ahead of a night out, one made from recycled toilet water and another infused with chocolate.
There's no connection between those last two, in case you were worried.
